Tigers Split Sweeps on Final Day of LA Mission Kickoff Classic

SYLMAR - After sweeping East LA for its third win in a row, Riverside City College was unable to complete the weekend undefeated, falling to host LA Mission in the LA Mission Kickoff Classic championship match on Saturday.
In the first match of the day, RCC made quick work of East LA with a straight-set win (25-13, 25-20, 25-22). For the Tigers, 14 players made an appearance in the match and Kilyn Hayes led all hitters with 16 kills on 28 swings. Jaeda Whitmire added 11 kills while Alyssa Bishop and Riley Chaffee finished with 23 and 11 assists respectively. On the match, RCC hit .380, collecting 39 kills with 12 attack errors on 71 total swings.
With the win, the Tigers advanced to the championship match, where they faced off against host LA Mission. The winning streak would come to an end against the host Eagles as the Tigers fell in straight sets (18-25, 12-25, 17-25). Whitmire led RCC with nine kills on 20 attacks. Hayes added eight kills while Bishop added 12 assists to her weekend totals.
RCC will next be in action on Wednesday, traveling to LA Pierce. Match time with the Brahmas is set for 5 p.m.
