
O'Brien Leads Tigers to Sixth at State Championship, Earns All-American Honors
Despite sloppy, rainy conditions, Riverside City College took sixth overall at the 3C2A State Championship Saturday morning.
The Tigers finished with 197 points, just 13 points behind Cerritos College in fifth. San Diego Mesa College won the championship with 47 team points.
Kailil O'Brien ran a solid race, taking fifth overall with a time of 20 minutes, 57.2 seconds, which earned the sophomore All-American honors.
Martin Torres-Sandoval took 36th overall in 21:46.5, while Damion Spralls finished in the top 50 with a time of 21:58.8. Daniel Nava posted a time of 22:10.6 for the Tigers, who saw Jorge Guillen (22:21.3) just edge out teammate Anthony Ruiz (22:21.7). Joshua West was RCC's final scorer and finished in 22:29.9.
