Riverside Opens Season With Win Over Wildcats

Riverside City College tipped off the season Friday night and grabbed a 74-64 victory over West LA College in the Third Annual Tip-Off game.

The Tigers start the season at 1-0, while the Wildcats begin 0-1.

Three Tigers finished the game in double figures, led by N'Dya Parks with 24 points on 10-for-23 shooting. Talia Washington followed with 16 points (7-for-15), while Nave'ah Pina chipped in 15 points (5-for-13).

Parks led RCC's efforts off the glass with 12 boards.

Riverside jumped out to a 25-16 lead after the first quarter, but West LA battled back and pulled within three at halftime, 41-38.

The Wildcats tied things up heading into the final 10 minutes of the game, but Parks scored five unanswered points to keep the Tigers in front before Washington stole the ball away and scored on the fastbreak to secure the 74-64 victory for RCC.

Riverside heads to the Moorpark College tournament next, first taking on Pasadena City College at on Thursday at 1 p.m.
