Women’s Basketball Earns Seventh-Consecutive Win

Women’s Basketball Earns Seventh-Consecutive Win

The Riverside City College women's basketball team looked to haul in its seventh-consecutive win as they opened up the El Camino Christmas Crossover against the Santa Barbara City College Vaqueros. After beating the Vaqueros earlier in the season, the Tigers ran it back to grab another victory by the final score of 74-62.

The Tigers utilized strong paint play and took efficient shots. They bucketed 46 total points in the paint in comparison to SBCC's 20 points. Additionally, they shot 44.3 percent from the floor and forced 29 turnovers. They capitalized off SBCC turnovers leading to 26 points.

The starting five did the bulk of the damage. Leading the charge was sophomore Neveah Manning. She recorded a game-high 20 points while hauling in seven rebounds, recording two assists and pocketing two steals. Her 20-point showing is seven points off her season best and she has landed in double-digits eight of the last nine games.

Sophomore Maxine Najera made a significant impact as she dropped 15 points and hauled in six rebounds. She was 7-for-13 from the floor and had an even split of three rebounds on the offense and defensive end. Sophomore Ashley Smith earned her first start of the season and flushed seven points and swatted away a game-high four blocks.

Freshman Antieya Brown clocked strong minutes off the bench leading to nine points and a pair of boards.
