Cano Goes Long in Tiger Defeat
Once again, Riverside City College struck first, but Santa Ana College came back to grab the series finale 4-3 Friday afternoon.
The Tigers slip to 11-23 on the year, 3-12 in the Orange Empire Conference, while the Dons improve to 13-18 overall, 6-9 in conference.
RCC started things off with a bang as Sheila Fernanda Cano (2-for-4) knocked an in-the-park home run to lead off the top of the first. She then tacked on two more runs in the bottom of the second, this time sailing a two-run homer over the fence at center field.
Santa Ana battled back and tied things in the fourth before taking the lead in the sixth, 4-3.
Still, the Tigers never gave up and loaded the bases with two outs in the bottom of the seventh, looking for a walk-off victory. The Dons spoiled that idea, however, after grabbing the third out to end the game.
Riverside is back at home on Tuesday, hosting Fullerton College at 3 p.m.
