
Six Tigers, Five Relay Teams Headed to 3C2A Championship
Riverside City College is sending six individuals and five relay teams to the 3C2A State Championship next week.
The Tigers' 400-yard free relay team will be a team to watch, entering the State Championship with the fastest time in the 3C2A this year (1:34.20). RCC also boasts the second-fastest times in the 200-yard free relay (1:23.12) and the 800-yard free relay (6:57.04). Rounding out the Riverside relay teams that qualified are the 200-yard medley team (fifth seed, 1:34.20) and the 400-yard medley team (ninth seed, 3:31.75).
Vincent Roulhac will represent the Tigers on both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving boards.
Zekiah Serrano will compete for two individual championships, entering the 200-yard free with the second-fastest time in the State (1:41.76). He also qualified as the sixth seed in the 100-yard free.
Lennon Franklin secured his spot in three events, including the 100-yard butterfly after boasting the third-fastest time in the 3C2A (50.02 seconds – just .04 seconds off the top time). He also qualified for the 500-yard free and the 100-yard free races.
Yousef Nahali qualified for three events, as well, including two top-10 seedings. He enters the 50-yard free with the fourth-best time in the State (20.74 seconds) and the 100-yard free as the No. 7 seed. Nahali also qualified for the 100-yard backstroke.
Gerardo Garcia and Kevin Mora round out the individual qualifiers for Riverside, each earning their spot in two events. Garcia will compete in the 400-yard individual medley and the 200-yard butterfly, while Mora qualified for the 200-yard free and the 100-yard free.
The Tigers head back to Orange Coast College for the championship, May 2-4.
