Thieme, Kremling Finish Runner-Up at State Championship

Riverside City College's Emily Thieme and Janine Kremling capped a solid season with a runner-up finish at the 3C2A State Championship Sunday afternoon.

The pair opened the morning with a tiebreaker win in the semifinals to advance to the championship game. The Tigers beat Santa Monica College's Anaya Ayanbadejo and Yesugen Ganbaatar 2-6, 6-4 [10-7] to earn their spot in the title game.

It came down to Thieme and Kremling against Mt. San Antonio College's Julianna Vich and Paige Valenzuela in the final match of the year. The Mounties opened with a 6-0 set win and despite RCC's duo trying to battle back, held on for the championship win (6-3).
