Tigers Sweep First Round of 3C2A SoCal Regional

In the first round of the 3C2A SoCal Regional, Riverside City College swept Santa Barbara City College 5-0 to advance to the regional semifinals.

The Tigers improve to 17-3 on the year, while the Vaqueros finish the year with a 5-7 mark.

Needing to win five games first, RCC got off to a strong start by sweeping the doubles competition. Emilio Real and Matias Almeida-Ponce won their competition 8-3, while Lance Lao and Michael Chang picked up an 8-5 win and Raphael Delente and Austin Harvill dominated an 8-1 result.

Riverside needed just two Tigers to win their singles competitions, which Harvill (6-1, 6-2) and Chang (6-0, 6-3) did easily.

The Tigers head to Ventura College for the 3C2A SoCal Regional semifinals on Tuesday at 2 p.m., hoping to secure a spot in the regional finale on April 20.
