Men’s Tennis Qualifies Three Singles in Day One of OEC Championships

The Riverside City men's tennis team hit the road for the opening round of the Orange Empire Conference (OEC) Singles and Doubles Championships on Thursday afternoon. The Tigers advanced three singles players with two more in the hunt.

SINGLES

It was a memorable day for the singles players as a lot of success was had across the board.

Sophomore Rafael Rullan highlighted the bunch after receiving a first-round bye and cruising to a second-round victory by the final count of 6-0, 6-0. Sophomore Carlos Rullan worked a two-set, opening round victory by the final count of 6-1, 6-1. He advanced and qualified with a 7-6, 3-0 ret. win.

Freshman Emilio Real earned a first-round bye and faced off against his teammate, freshman Enrico Recchia after he experienced a 6-0, 6-0, first-round victory. The two faced off in the second round and Real came out on top, 6-3, 6-3.

Freshman Austin Harvill bagged a 6-3, 7-5 opening round victory, but fell int eh second round, 6-3, 6-3.

Harvill and Recchia will play in the second-round feed in back draw in attempts to earn a qualifying bid.
