No. 2 Riverside Men's Tennis Defeats SBCC in Season Opener

The No. 2 Riverside City College men's tennis team began its 2018 campaign this past Friday on the road against the Santa Barbara City College Vaqueros in non-conference action. It was smooth sailing for the Tigers as they handled Santa Barbara by the final score of 9-0.

Freshman Kanye Trustfull (Amsterdam, Netherlands) acted as the Tigers number one in his Riverside debut and made quick work of his opponent by defeating him 6-2, 6-0. Freshman Thomas Pidoux (Perpignon, France) followed in his footsteps by defeating SBCC's number two by the final counts of 6-3, 6-1. Both Trustfull and Sophomore Thierry van Os (Spijkenisse, Netherlands) teamed up for number one doubles and worked to an 8-4 victory as well.

Sophomore tandem Brandon Moerer (Riverside, CA) and Samuel Murphy (Alta Loma, CA) earned a doubles victory as the third team by the final score of 8-2, while freshman Miles Clark (Rancho Cucamonga, CA) and Pidoux won a close doubles match with the final count reading 8-6.

Freshman James Curtis (Riverside, CA) dominated his number six singles match 6-1, 6-0.

The Tigers (1-0) kick off their home schedule this Tuesday, January 30th at 2 p.m. against the Bakersfield College Renegades.
