
Tigers Split First OEC Competition
Riverside City College opened up Orange Empire Conference action Friday morning at the Great Park in Irvine, Calif., taking on Santiago Canyon College and Cypress College.
The Tigers grabbed a 4-1 victory over the Hawks but fell 4-1 to the Chargers to move to 2-8 on the year.
Against Cypress, Harmony Kniss and Keira Isgar picked up the lone win for RCC. The Tigers dominated a 21-6 first-set win and followed with a 21-11 second-set victory to win the match.
The duo followed with a two-set sweep against the Hawks (21-17, 21-10).
Alyssa Bishop and Kyra Myers battled in their first match against Cypress, falling in three sets (18-21, 21-18, 15-12). The pair then won their second match against Santiago Canyon in two sets (21-11, 21-16).
Isabel Reyes and Tabitha Irish also battled in a three-set defeat (21-8, 20-22, 15-9) to the Chargers.
The Tigers continue OEC action next week at Santa Ana College's home court, the Newland Courts at Huntington Beach. RCC will face the Dons and Fullerton College.
