Women’s Track & Field Begins Season at Moorpark Invitational

The Riverside City College women's track & field team kicked off their season at the Moorpark Invitational on Friday and put together some impressive marks. They competed against a plethora of competitors that included members of the CCCAA, Division III, unattached and club teams.

The Tigers competed well in the sprints with Kayla Johnson placing third overall in the 300 M with a mark of 44.06. She led a 4 x 400 M Relay squad that snapped the tape with a time of 4:48.27. She was joined by Briana Olukoju, Elani Huntley and Briana Rodriguez.

Rodriguez, who was the Orange Empire Conference Female Runner of the Year and Individual Champion, placed first overall in the 1000 M Steeplechase with a time of 3:52.37. Arlene Castro hauled in third place in the 3000 M with a mark of 11:51.09.

Kyelyn Tucker held it down in the Long Jump as she paced the field with a leap of 15' 5.5". Laylah Moore placed second in the High Jump with a mark of 4' 9".

The meet did not include official team results.

The Tigers will continue action at home on Friday, February 11 as they host the RCC Early Bird.
