Bio

Scott Hooks is an original. A former RCC student-athlete in football and track, he was one of the original early TigerBackers--a group of sports fans and RCC alumni who wanted to give back to the College that had made a difference in their lives.

His name is mentioned in the same breath as Roy Hord, Gay Hood, Nate DeFrancisco, Suzanne Ashley, and Jim Kross. The group worked hard to host football tailgates and hold two major fundraising events each year--Monte Carlo Night and the TigerBackers Golf Tournament. Through the years, the TigerBackers have raised nearly $1 million for RCC athletics. Hooks traces his commitment to the College back to his playing days when he was coached by Bob Dohr, Don Birren, Al Fages, T. Mark Johnson, Bruce Wilson, and Bill Heath. These men made a difference in his life, he says, and playing sports allowed him to develop lifelong friendships.

One of those friendships is with Nick Goldware, who threw a touchdown pass to Hooks in the first game of the season. It was also the first touchdown reception in Hooks’ career. Today the two friends, both successful local businessmen, maintain a strong allegiance to the College. And Hooks, who works for Westcoe Realtors, Inc., shows that allegiance by his longtime investment of time and sponsorships. His desire is for RCC to continue to provide superior educational and athletic opportunities and “prepare students for whatever door of opportunity opens, so they may enter with confidence that they will succeed.”
