Men’s Track & Field Favorited in OEC Finals

The Riverside City College men's track and field team will enter into the 2022 Orange Empire Conference (OEC) Championships as the favorite to win it after a year hiatus from competition. They hold top seed marks in 12 events to reclaim the conference title with already to first-place finishes under their belt.

Last week, Donal Alusei was crowned the OEC Champion in the Shot Put (51' 7") and the Hammer (177' 5"). He will look to complete the trio with a top mark in the Discus (164' 7").

Mario Tavares enters the meet as the top distance runner in the 1500 M (4:13.80) backed by Gonzalo Sanchez (4:18.95). Raen Reyes holds the strongest time in the 5000 M (15:12.82), while Gavyn Condit (15:19.77) follows closely behind. Abel Ramos (15:20.00) rounds out the top three for a potential podium sweep.

Joshua Hornsby continues to hold the top mark in the 110 M Hurdles (14.09) as he continues to pace the state in the event. Matthew Siggins (14.91) follows with the second strongest mark.

The 100 M feature to Tigers at the top with Dominic Boykins (10.90) and Lorenzo Boyd (10.91) competing neck and neck. Xavier Montgomery will challenge in the field in the 400 M (50.38), while seven of the top nine positions in the 800 M are occupied by Riverside. Sanchez (1:57.37) leads the pack. Tyler Howard leads the field in the 400 M Hurdles (54.82)

Riverside's 4 x 400 M Relay comes in with the top time (3:17.96) that features Luke Gleason, Noel Bernal, Howard and Montgomery.

Darius Hill will look to take home the top spot in the High Jump (6' 9"), while Reno Vasquez (5' 11") follows behind. Novye James leads the Triple Jump (50' 7 ¼") by a landslide as the lone Tiger competing in the event.
