Men’s Golf Places Third in OEC Championships, Qualifies for Regionals

The Riverside City College men's golf team hosted the 2023 Orange Empire Conference (OEC) Championships on Monday morning at the Los Serranos Country Club in Chino Hills, CA. The Tigers placed third overall with a 36-hole total of 757 strokes leading to the bronze medal.

Riverside scored a 372 on the Northern course, backed by a 385 on the Southern course. This led to a third-place overall finish on the season thus qualifying them for the 3C2A Southern Regional Championships. Saddleback won the conference title, followed by a second-place finish from College of the Desert.

Freshman Cameron Hartling led the Tigers with a lowly 146 overall stroke count. He shot even on both courses with a 72 on the north course and a74 on the south course. His 72 was a career low after shooting 73 in his collegiate debut.

Sophomore Kyle Hartford finished with a stroke count of 151 highlighted by a one-over 73 on the north course. He followed with a 78 on the south course. His one-over par was one stroke shy of his season best mark. He finished the season with a 75.4 average score which qualified him for an individual regional berth.

Sophomore Bingcheng Zheng, who finished with the third-lowest scoring average in the conference at 73.3, carded a 152 overall count. He shot 74 on the north course and a 78 on the south course. He, too, qualified for an individual regional berth.

Freshman Ryan Osorio matched his 151 stroke count with a 55 on the north course and a 77 on the south course.
