Men’s Golf Cards Five Scores in 70s, Places Fourth Overall in Tight Competition

The Riverside City College men's golf team participated in Orange Empire Conference (OEC) action on Monday afternoon hosted by the El Camino College Warriors. Riverside strung together one of their better showings this season by placing fourth with an overall stroke count of 376.

The Tigers were one stroke shy of tying Irvine Valley College for third place. Orange Coast College penciled a 369 to place second overall, while Cypress took home the top spot with a 362 stroke mark.

It was the first time this season that Riverside landed all five golfers in the 70s. Leading the way was sophomore Jared Jenkins.

Jenkins penciled in a season-best 73. He got off to a strong start by carting a three-under mark through the first six holes, but a pair of bogeys on the seventh and ninth hole brought him to an even par after the front nine. He went on to record two more chirps on the back nine, and ended his round just two-over at 73.

Sophomore duo Jordan Reynoso and Theoren Delehanty followed by each carding a 75. Reynoso finished the front nine on an even mark, but stumbled to a three over mark on the back. Delehanty was consistent in his approach, but was unable to ever work under par at any point. He earned one birdie throughout his round.

Riverside will continue action on Monday, March 16 on the road. Saddleback College will act as the host for the third conference showdown of the season.
