RCC Avenges First Loss of the Season With Victory over Ventura

No. 17-ranked Riverside City College avenged its first loss of the season, defeating Ventura College 88-73 to tip off the Hypland Classic Wednesday evening.

The Tigers improve to 7-2 overall, while the Pirates drop to 6-6 on the year.

Three Tigers finished the game in double figures, with another just on the cusp. Both Christian Warren and Andre Skelin picked up double-doubles as Warren finished with 27 points (7-for-13) and 13 rebounds and Skelin chipped in 24 points (9-for-16) and 13 rebounds. Deacon Toliver followed with 10 points (4-for-7) and was one board shy of a double-double, while Jayden Miller scored nine points (3-for-6).

As a team, Riverside shot 45.2 percent from the floor, including 50 percent from three-point range and dominated the glass 45-to-26.

The Tigers look to keep building on their four-game winning streak as they host Mt. San Jacinto College on Thursday at 4 p.m. before taking on No. 22-ranked East Los Angeles on Saturday at 2 p.m. to close out the Hypland Classic.
