Beach Volleyball Drops Two in Conference Play

Beach Volleyball Drops Two in Conference Play

The Riverside City College women's beach volleyball squad hit the road to take on the Irvine Valley College Lasers and the Saddleback College Bobcats on Friday morning in Orange Empire Conference (OEC) action. The Tigers had a close game with Saddleback, but ultimately fell 3-2. They also were swept by powerhouse Irvine Valley, 5-0.

In the match against Saddleback, both victories came in three-set thrillers. Freshman duo Nina Peay and Audrey Elias held down the second position and won a clutch third set by the final score of 15-13. They won the opening set 21-13 to set the tone. Their second set did not role their way by the final count of 18-21, but it ultimately did not matter.

Sophomore tandem Mya Castro and Hoku Godoy rallied to a second and third set victory after dropping the opening set, 14-21. They came back to close out the win by the final scores of 21-16 and 15-19. All other matches ended in two sets.

Riverside fell victim to IVC in the opening match, 5-0, with all matches being completed in two frames.
