Top Two Pairs Teams Advance in OEC Individual Championships

The Riverside City College beach volleyball team competed in the Orange Empire Conference (OEC) Individual Championship tournament on Wednesday at Irvine Valley College. Two teams for the Tigers advanced to the next round to highlighted Riverside's successes.

Sophomore Brittney Diffine and freshman Natalie Escher acted as the top team for the Tigers and the number four team overall. They matched up with the 29th ranked squad from Orange Coast and handled them with ease by the final score of 21-9, 21-5.

The number two pair and 11th ranked team comprised of sophomore Marcella Rodriguez and freshman Julia Balancier faced off against the 21nd ranked squad from Santa Ana. They had a battle in the opening set and won 21-18. They continued on and cruised to a 21-9 victory in the second set to earn the sweep.

The remaining three teams for the Tigers fell in straight sets.

Riverside's remaining pairs will continue action on Friday, April 27th at Golden West College in the final day of the OEC Individual Championships.
