Bio

For 20 years, Micheal Barnes served Riverside City College as its women’s basketball coach, finishing with a career record of 372-230. His 372 victories makes him the Tigers’ all-time winningest coach. He took 14 of his 20 teams to the regional playoffs, winning one state championship in 1986 when the Tigers went 33-0. He also won three conference titles and racked up a 150-92 conference record. Barnes, a former Tiger himself, played for Bill Mulligan in the mid-60’s, earning all-conference and the team’s MVP award. For 30-plus years he held the men’s assist record. His record in conference play was 150-92 and 14 of his 20 teams went to the playoffs. Barnes teams won three conference titles and one state championship. As an RCC basketball player in the 1960s, Barnes was named All-Conference, All-Tournament and Most Valuable Player. His career assist record remains second on the list in RCC history.
