Tigers Snap Four Game Skid Behind Pair of Double-Doubles
After a handful of schedule adjustments due to COVID-19 complications, the Riverside City College women's basketball team was finally able to schedule a game on the road against Mission College Monday night. The Tigers regrouped and hit the road to snap a four-game losing streak with a victory over Mission.
It was a back and forth affair for the majority of the contest, but a strong third quarter handed Riverside the edge down the stretch. The game saw six lead changes that came in the first half. The Tigers shot 37.8 percent which is their highest mark in the past five games. Additionally, the Tigers were effective from long range by shooting an even 30 percent beyond the arc. It was a massive imporvement compared to their nine percent mark from long range the previous game.
Three players landed in double-digit scoring highlighted by freshman duo Neiya Hamilton and Neveah Manning as they each dropped 22 points.
After only landing in double digits once in the last four games, Hamilton exploded for a career-high 22 points that included four three pointers. She went 2-for-2 from the charity stripe and added 13 rebounds to mark her first-career double-double. She added four assists and one steal in the process.
Manning clocked in a massive double-double as seen in 22 points and 19 rebounds. Both totals act as career-highs. It is her fifth double-double on the season. Freshman Maxine Najera led the bench in scoring with 12 points while adding seven rebounds and a game-high five steals.
Sophomore Alyssa Serna ran the offense with seven assists leading to seven points. Freshman Mya Clark hauled in 12 rebounds and notched a bucket.
