Men’s Basketball Falls in Overtime

It took overtime to decide a winner on Friday night as the Riverside City College men's basketball team hit the road to face off against the Saddleback College Gauchos in Orange Empire Conference (OEC) action. A lowly six percent from downtown haunted the Tigers down the stretch and were outscored by four points in the extra frame leading to a 71-67 loss.

Freshman guard Troy Barbarin Jr. was the only Tiger to flush a three pointer, while the lineup went a combined 1-for-17 from long range. They shot 35.4 percent from the floor with Reggie Ward leading the way with 19 points. He added a massive 17 rebounds to record a double-double.

Only two player landed in double-digit scoring with sophomore point guard Courtland Moffatt finishing with 17 points, three rebounds and two assists. He went 6-for-8 from the floor after fouling out.

While Riverside dominated the boards 55-30, they coughed up the ball 24 times which is their second-largest mark of the season. Saddleback put in 24 points off their turnovers.

The game featured seven ties and two lead changes with Riverside's largest lead being only two points halfway through the second half.
