Moffat Bags Triple-Double, Tigers Roll Past Dons

Sophomore point guard Courtland Moffatt was a rebound shy of a triple double with just five minutes left in the game in a conference game that featured the Riverside City College men's basketball team and the Santa Ana College Dons. After checking in for the final time in the game, the sophomore captain corralled his 10th rebound with under three minutes remaining to gift the Tigers a 97-62 win.

"Feels good, especially since we got the win," said Moffat when asked about his first-career triple double. "It feels really good."

The Tigers have successfully strung together four crucial conference wins that have put them over the hump in the standings. They currently sit in third place after tonight's triumph.

"It is a great time to start meshing. We have a big game coming up next week against top-ranked Fullerton, so now we can put together a big streak and hopefully get a high seed in the playoffs."

During their four game streak, Riverside has proven to come out on top in close games. Three of their last four games were decided by 10 or more points prior to tonight's 35 point win.

Four players landed in double digit scoring with freshman forward Reggie Ward leading the way with 15 points and nine rebounds. Sophomore guard Julian Alvarez flushed 10 points in his third straight start, while Moffatt's clean 10/10/10 earning him a triple-double.

"The team did really good tonight," said Moffatt. "We improved as a team and trust each other a little bit more. Our energy as a team is up and I am proud of everyone. We are on the same mindset – just win."

Freshman center Tony Cheng had a career-game as he came off the bench to score nine points in 10 minutes of action.  Freshman Darius McClain followed with eight points that included one three pointer.

It was a physical game as there were a total of 45 fouls. Riverside made it to the line 34 times and shot 79 percent from the charity stripe. Furthermore, they shot 50 percent from long range contributing to their 37 point lead at one point in the game.
