Women’s Tennis Qualifies Four Singles, Two Doubles for SoCal Regionals, Men Qualify Two
The Riverside City College women's tennis team has qualified four singles players and two doubles pairings for the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Southern Regional Playoffs and will compete on Friday and Saturday of this week. On the men's side, they have qualified one singles player and one doubles duo.
Sophomore and Orange Empire Conference (OEC) Player of the Year Torrey Mateljan will acts as the highest singles player for the Tigers. Freshman Samantha Treat follows as the second singles player. Both individuals have acted as the top singles player for the Tigers in various matches throughout the season. Freshman tandem Keeley Arendt and Jillian Stark also qualified for the tournament after a strong inaugural campaign.
Mateljan will team up with freshman Keeley Arendt as the top doubles team and will jump into the second round after a first-round bye. Freshman Jillian Stark and Treat will link up in the first round in hopes of advancing to the second round. Both doubles teams have been paired with one another throughout the majority of the season.
On the men's side, freshman Rafael Rullan has reached the singles tournament and will link up with his twin brother, freshman Carlos Rullan, in the doubles bracket.
