Seven Cross Country Talents Haul in 2017 Academic All-State Laurels

Seven Cross Country Talents Haul in 2017 Academic All-State Laurels

It was recently announced by the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) that six Riverside City College cross country student-athletes were named to the 2017 Cross Country Academic All-State team. Katelyn Hansen and Aubrey Leance were honored on the women's side, while Austin Dai, Joshua Duque, Tyler Gerlach, Joshua Silva, and Gabriel Sanchez hauled in the accolade on the men's side.

In order to be considered for this award, a student-athlete must participate in one season of competition and successfully complete 24 academic units with a 3.5 grade-point-average or higher.

Hansen and Leance were members of a women's squad that hauled in a 2017 Orange Empire Conference (OEC) championship by a sizable margin. Dai, Duque, Gerlach, Silva and Sanchez accomplished the same feat as they worked to earn the programs third-straight conference title in 2017. They recently pushed their streak to four-consecutive this past Friday with a sizable, first-place victory at the 2018 OEC Championships.
