Riley Peckels & Antonio Mitchell Named S.A.A.C. March Athletes of the Month

It was voted on by the Riverside City College Athletics' Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) that freshman Riley Peckels (Moreno Valley, CA) of the softball team and freshman Antonio Mitchel (Moreno Valley, CA) of the men's track & field team were named March Athletes of the Month by S.A.A.C. team representatives.

In order to be nominated for S.A.A.C. Athlete of the Month, a student-athlete must display an exemplary attitude both on and off their respected playing field. They must perform well in the classroom and in competition while consistently representing Riverside Athletics in a positive manner.

Riley Peckels

Peckels earned the nod as the female athlete of the month after dominating the circle during many outings in the month of March. Amidst a month where she went 4-1 with 17 strikeouts and one save, she tossed the 16th no-hitter in program history and first since 2013 against the Golden West College Rustlers. She brought a perfect game into the third inning prior to allowing a walk. She currently holds a 9-5 record while boasting a 2.43 ERA. Furthermore, she has fanned 50 batters and recorded a pair of saves in 80.2 innings pitched.

Antonio Mitchell

Mitchell has been lighting up the track with blazing-fast times this season and continues to impress as the campaign progresses. In early March, Mitchell earned a California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) pacing time of 10.31 in the 100 M and currently remains at the top of the list. He accomlished this time against a trio of Division I competitors in Pepperdine, UC Riverside, and CSU Fullerton. He recently moved up to second place in the CCCAA with a 20.99 time in the 200 M to prove his utter dominance. He has helmed the track & field team to first-place finishes this season.
