Women’s Tennis Defeats Fullerton in Conference Opener

The Riverside City College women's tennis team took to Orange Empire Conference (OEC) action for its opener against the Fullerton College Hornets at home on Thursday. Riverside cruised to a victory after working towards a 7-2 victory.

Sophomore Ellia Rosado (Riverside, CA) continued to pace the Tigers as the top singles player. She worked to defeated Fullerton's number one in two sets by the final score of 6-3, 6-1. Sophomore Autumn Keay (Running Springs, CA) followed at the number three and took home a win by the final count of 6-7 (9), 6-3, 10-6. Freshman Mikahela Kahler (San Bernardino, CA) earned a two-set victory at the five spot with a score of 6-1, 6-3.

Rosado and Kahler hauled in a tight doubles match as the number two pair by the final score of 9-8 (8), while freshman Jolene Beaulieu (Riverside, CA) and Keary earned an 8-4 win at the number three doubles slot.

The Tigers (6-1, 1-0 OEC) continues action today at 2 p.m. against Glendale in non-conference action.
