Tigers Top San Diego City, 9-0, Thursday in RCC's Season Opener

RIVERSIDE -- Picking up where the 2015 squad basically left off during the regular season, the Riverside City College (RCC) Tigers women's tennis team lifted the lid on its 2016 season with a 9-0 nonconference home win over the visiting San Diego City College (SDCC) Knights Thursday afternoon (Jan. 28) at RCC's Fran Bushman Tennis Courts.

Riverside (1-0 overall) is ranked No. 7 in the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Southern California Regional rankings. The Tigers won the 2015 Orange Empire Conference (OEC) championship with a 10-0 record and were 17-3 overall.

RCC will host the defending state champion Mt. San Antonio College (MSAC) Mounties on Friday, Jan. 29, at 2 p.m. Last season, MSAC decisioned RCC, 5-1, in a regional semifinal match.
