Day 1 of RCC Invitational Tournament
The RCC men's water polo team split the two games of day 1 as they host their annual invitational tournament.
In the first game, the Riverside men earned a big win against #7 state ranked Grossmont College by a score of 10-7. After playing an even 3 quarters, entering the 4th period tied at 5 apiece, the Tigers fell behind 6-5 early in the quarter. Then, RCC got the counter-attack going, outscoring Grossmont 5-1 to take a 3 goal victory. Riverside was led by Sophomores Brody Wood with 4 goals and Nicho Morabito in the goal with 10 saves in the match.
In the second game, RCC fell to #1 ranked Long Beach City College 11-17. After falling behind 2-4 after 1 period, the Tigers had a hard time keeping the Vikings from scoring as RCC never took a lead in the game. Riverside was led in scoring by freshman Reese Verdayou with 4 goals and sophomores Brody wood, Will Koenig and Christopher Forte, each with 2 goals apiece.
The RCC men's record is now 6-4; 1-1 in Conference.
