Riverside in Second Place After Day 2 of CCCAA Championships; Zaoui (400 IM), Bouvier (100 Breast) Win State Titles

MONTEREY PARK --Winning two individual events, one relay and finishing second in another relay, the second day (of three) of competition is in the books at the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Championships and the Riverside City College (RCC) Tigers men's swimming and diving team has moved up to second place.

The CCCAA Championships are being hosted by East Los Angeles College (ELAC) in its natatorium in Monterey Park.

Golden West College (GWC) leads with 379 points, followed by Riverside (314 points) and Sierra (312).

RCC freshman Farouk Zaoui (Tunis, TUNISIA) won the 400-yard individual medley (butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, freestyle) with a time of 4:02.22 and sophomore Maxence Bouvier (Marseille, FRANCE) -- who is pictured -- won the 100-yard breaststroke (:54.93).

The Tigers won the 200-yard medley relay (1:32.54) with the quartet of freshman Arnaud Magnan (Versailles, FRANCE), Bouvier, sophomore Lazar Raca (Belgrade, SERBIA) and freshman Kyle Acevedo (Redlands / Redlands East Valley HS).

The RCC foursome of Bouvier, freshman Jacob White (Yucaipa / Yucaipa HS), Magnan and Zaoui finished second in the 400-yard freestyle relay (6:51.61).

Another solid performance was turned in by Magnan, who finished fifth in the 100-yard backstroke (:52.03).
