Tigers Win Chaffey Invitational With a Whopping 1,131 points; Bouvier Wins Two Events, Assists in Two Relay Wins

PERRIS -- Gaining five more first-place finishes (for a total of 11), the Riverside City College (RCC) Tigers men's swimming and diving team won the Chaffey Invitational Friday-Saturday (Mar. 10-11) at Citrus Hill High School.

Riverside accumulated a whopping 1,131 points, easily outdistancing second-place San Diego Mesa College (807 points). Next was Palomar (428), Grossmont (364), host Chaffey (258), Rio Hondo (227), Mt. San Antonio (83) and Santa Ana (7). Citrus and East Los Angeles did not score.

RCC sophomore Maxence Bouvier (FRANCE), who won the men's 200-yard individual medley with a time of 1:54.75 on Friday (Mar. 10), won the 100-yard butterfly (:52.07) and the 100-yard breaststroke (:57.17) on Saturday (Mar. 11).

Also posting an individual win was RCC freshman Farouk Zaoui (TUNISIA), who won the 400-yard individual medley (4:22.45) on Saturday. In fact, Riverside nabbed the first four places in the event. Zaoui won the 500-yard freestyle (4:51.21) on Friday.

The Tigers won the 200-yard medley relay (1:38.67) with (in order) freshman Arnaud Magnan (FRANCE), Bouvier, sophomore Lazar Raca (Belgrade, SERBIA) and sophomore Jesse Mondragon doing the honors.

RCC also won the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:14.02) with the quartet of Magnan, freshman Jacob White (Yucaipa / Yucaipa HS), Zaoui and Bouvier.

The Tigers are guided by fourth-year RCC head swimming and diving program coach Jason Northcott. Riverside finished fourth in last spring's California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Championships and hopes to improve on that finish this spring.

"The RCC men's team has yet to lose a relay this 2017 season, finishing first in every relay event of competition," said Northcott. "This helps to prove the depth at the top for the RCC men, led by Max Bouvier, Arnaud Magnan, Farouk Zaoui, Cole Florez and Lazar Raca."
