Bouvier, Brown, Magnan & Zaoui Each Win Two Events as Tigers Win First OEC Meet of Season Last Friday

RIVERSIDE -- Having four participants win at least two individual events each, the Riverside City College (RCC) Tigers men's swimming and diving team finished first in the Orange Empire Conference (OEC) Meet #1 last Friday (Mar. 3) at the Riverside Aquatics Center on the RCC campus.

In a new format which has all seven OEC members face each other, as opposed to a dual meet, a triangular meet or a quadrangular meet, Riverside posted a winning total of 729 points to take an early lead in the conference standings.

Following RCC's first-place finish were Golden West (642 points), Cypress (389), Orange Coast (329), Saddleback (205), Fullerton (84) and Santa Ana (9).

Sophomore Maxence Bouvier (FRANCE), freshmen Brenden Brown (Riverside - Poly HS), Arnaud Magnan (FRANCE) and Farouk Zaoui (TUNISIA) each won two events to pace the Tigers.

Bouvier won the 100-yard breaststroke (:57.14) and the 100-yard freestyle (:46.56), and finished second in the 200-yard individual medley; Brown won the one-meter (238.55 points) and three-meter diving (245.45) events; Magnan won the 100-yard backstroke (:53.34) and the 200-yard backstroke (1:57.05); and Zaoui won the 200-yard butterfly (1:58.96) and the 500-yard freestyle (4:51.43).

For good measure, RCC also won the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:27.65) and the 200-yard medley relay (1:37.31) with Magnan (backstroke), Bouvier (breaststroke), sophomore Lazar Raca (Belgrade, SERBIA) in the butterfly and freshman Kyle Acevedo (Redlands - Redlands East Valley HS) in the freestyle.

Riverside finished fourth in last spring's California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Championships and hopes to improve on that finish this spring.
