Riverside Takes First Place (854 points) at Chaffey Invite last Friday-Saturday

RIVERSIDE --Winning four relay events and eight individual events, including both diving competitions, the Riverside City College (RCC) Tigers men's swimming team won the annual Chaffey Invitational meet last Friday and Saturday (Mar. 11-12).

Riverside compiled 854 points, followed by San Diego Mesa (631 points), Palomar (530), Grossmont (325.50) and host Chaffey (298).

Mt. San Antonio College finished sixth (230.50), followed by El Camino (213), Southwestern (164), Rio Hondo (159), Los Angeles Trade-Technical (90) and Santa Ana (12).

Riverside won the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:26.33), the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:09.86), the 400-yard medley relay (3:34.83) and the 800-yard freestyle relay (7:04.39).

Individually, RCC sophomore Adrien Deloffre won two events, the 100-yard breaststroke (:59.72) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:09.04). Alex Durham won the 200-yard butterfly (1:56.89) and the 400-yard individual medley (4:18.21). Jakob Wood won the one-meter diving event (212.90 points) and the three-meter diving event (211.90 points).

Additionally for the Tigers, Maxence Bouvier won the 100-yard freestyle (46:10) and sophomore Garret Shimko won the 200-yard freestyle (1:47.49).

RCC will next compete in Orange Empire Conference (OEC) meet #2 hosted by Fullerton College on Friday, Mar. 12, at 1 p.m.
