Tigers Win Seven of 14 Events in OEC Invite #1 at Golden West Last Friday
HUNTINGTON BEACH -- In the first of two regular season Orange Empire Conference (OEC) Invitational meets, the Riverside City College (RCC) Tigers men's swim team performed at high level last Friday (Feb. 19), winning seven of the 14 events.
Included in those seven victories were both of the two relays with impressive times (1:26:07) in the 200-yard freestyle relay and 1:37:10 (in the 200-yard medley relay).
A highlight of the day was freshman Maxence Bouvier's 200-yard Individual Medley, coming in at 1:54:20 and breaking a 26-year-old RCC program record. The previous record was set in 1988 by Mark McGee at 1:54:30. Bouvier also won in the 50-yard freestyle (21:75) and 100-yard freestyle (46:61).
In this first meet of the season, other impressive swims came from sophomore Adrien Deloffre in the 500-yard freestyle (4:45:13), 100-yard breaststroke (59:27) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:08:75). Deloffre, the defending CCCAA State Champion, is recording far stronger times than he was at the same time last year.
RCC Swimming gets back into competition this Friday, Feb. 26, at the Golden West Sprint Invitational at Golden West College in Huntington Beach.
