Women’s Swimming & Diving Wins Second-Consecutive Meet, Men Place Sixth

The Riverside City College swimming and diving program hosted the Riverside Invitational on Friday morning in a meet that featured 12 California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) member institutions. The women's side dominated as they won by over 150 points, while the men's finished just outside of the top five.

WOMEN

Four Riverside swimmers earned 50 or more points with Lindsey Habegger accumulating a team-high 60 points. She placed first in all three events coming in the 50 Free (26.10), 100 Free (57.14) and the 200 Free (2:05.34). All three marks came in lower than her seed time.

Lara Pillar followed with 57 points highlighted by two first place finishes and a second place finish. She touched the wall first in the 200 Back (2:20.47) and the 100 Back (1:04.04), while earning the silver medal in the 200 IM (2:26.92).

Lauren Loffelmacher matched her teammates outcome with 57 points, two first place marks and a second place showing. Her two gold medals came in the 400 IM (5:06.22) and the 200 IM (2:24.59), while finishing second in the 200 Back (2:22.53) by a mere two seconds.

Valerie Juarez rounded out the 50 points or over club with 53 of her own. She landed atop the podium in the 200 Fly (2:30.13) and placed second in the 100 Fly (1:05.31). She rounded out her day with a third place finish in the 200 IM (2:27.33).

The diving squad saw great results highlighted by Lorelai Carney. She placed first in the one meter (219.25) and the three meter (256.27). Lauren Nelson had the final podium finish with a third place showing in the 200 Breast (3:05.99).

MEN

The men featured nine swimmers that saw five of them score. Ilias Massignan was the top swimmer by pocketing 43 total points. He had a pair of fourth place finishes in the 400 IM (4:33.04) and the 500 Free (5:06.97).

Ryland Cummings had the most success on the podium with a first place showing in the 100 Back (56.20) and a second place finish in the 200 Back (2:07.54). Ben McCombs earned a third place mark in the 100 Fly (54.78) and shaved two second off his seed time.

Seth Zarn reeled in a gold medal in the 200 Breast (2:25.46) to round out the top finishers.
