Riverside Outlasts Host Fullerton, 17-13; Tigers Host American River & Long Beach Friday in RCC Mini Tourney
FULLERTON -- Mary Myers scored a team-high four goals and Sarina Briseno had one goal and eight, count 'em, eight assists as the Riverside City College (RCC) Tigers women's water polo squad defeated the host Fullerton College Hornets, 17-13, in an Orange Empire Conference (OEC) game Wednesday (Oct. 12).
Riverside City (17-1 overall, 4-0 OEC) led, 3-2, at the end of the first quarter, 7-4 at halftime and 14-9 heading into the fourth quarter.
Myers is a sophomore attacker from Riverside (M.L. King HS '15) and Briseno is a sophomore attacker from Riverside (Riverside Poly HS '15). Frosh attacker Josceline Godinez (Menifee / Vista Murrieta HS) chipped in with three goals and three assists for the Tigers.
Sophomore goalkeeper Ariana Olmos (Redlands / Redlands East Valley HS '15) had 12 saves and four steals for RCC.
Riverside will next be in action on Friday, Oct. 14, when it hosts the American River College (ARC) Beavers at 8 a.m. and the Long Beach City College (LBCC) Vikings at 2 p.m. in RCC's annual mini tournament. In between, ARC and LBCC will battle each other at 11 a.m.
