WWP Advance to the Semi-Final Game
The RCC Women's Water Polo team was in action this evening in the first round of the Southern California Regional tournament. Riverside, the # 2 seed, took on Orange Coast, the # 7 seed. The game was tied at two at the end of a quarter before Riverside took a 5-3 lead into halftime. The score was tied again at 5 in the third quarter when Riverside scored 6 unanswered goals and cruised to an 11-5 victory. The Tigers were led by Freshman Nikki Bell who had 5 goals while freshmen Alia McMorris and Melissa Woody each added 2 goals. Katia Montoya had 9 saves in goal.
With the victory, the Tigers advance to the semi-final game tomorrow at 12:15pm at Cerritos College against Fullerton. The winner of this game will qualify for the State Championship tournament.
The Tigers are now 26-3 on the season.
