Fullerton gets payback and beats Riverside 3-2
FULLERTON (11-02-2012) – Riverside and Fullerton had another five-set match but a different outcome. Fullerton revenged their tough loss to Riverside three weeks earlier by holding off a second triumphant comeback by the Tigers. Fullerton won the first two sets just like they did a few weeks, but the Tigers never stopped competing and took the game to the wire. After losing the 25-17 and 25-20 in the first two sets, Riverside (8-10, 3-8 OEC) edged the Hornets 25-23 and 26-24 in the third and fourth elimination sets. In the fifth and final set, the Tigers fell a few points shy of a winning another great come-from-behind victory. The Hornets closed the last set 15-13. The Tigers are now losers of three straight. The Hornets were led by Jordyn Hecker with 28 kills.
Riverside will host Saddleback (4-16, 2-9 OEC) on Wednesday at 6 p.m. The Tigers lost to Saddleback nearly a month ago. Saddleback was on a nine-game losing streak when they first faced Riverside. Both teams will be looking to snap their current losing streaks. Saddleback is on a four-game losing streak.
