RCC whips Santa Ana in a 3-set sweep
SANTA ANA (10-24-2012) – The Tigers (8-7, 3-5 OEC) notched a much needed 3-0 victory over struggling Santa Ana on Wednesday night. Riverside, winning three sets 25-16, 25-16, and 25-11, did not give the Dons (2-12, 0-7 OEC) a chance for hope in this contest. Riverside limited the Dons to a horrendous .014 kill percentage. In contrast, the Tigers had a great kill percentage (.356). Sophomore defensive specialist Taylor Whiteside had 11 kills with an incredible .476 kill percentage. Samantha Straley had nine kills with an even more impressive .571 kill percentage, and outside hitter Deborah Cantanese punched-in seven kills with a staggering .600 kill percentage.
The Tigers had a total of 41 kills and only 10 errors. The Dons had far less kills (16) and recorded five more errors (15) than Riverside.
Riverside ends their three-game losing streak, and they will try to start a winning streak on Friday at 6 p.m. when Cypress (9-10, 5-3 OEC) comes into town.
