Multiple Tigers Post 3C2A Qualifying Marks at Arnie Invite

Riverside City College traveled down to San Diego Mesa College for the 10th Annual Arnie Robinson Invitational and saw multiple Tigers hit qualifying marks for the 3C2A State Championship Meet.

Dakota Zamarripa won the 3K steeplechase with a time of 12 minutes, 11.90 seconds, almost 30 seconds faster than her competition and good for a 3C2A State Championship automatic qualifying mark (AQ).

The Riverside 4x400 relay team of Brianna Miller, Jolene Ruth Lavaki, Aiyana Allen-Jefferson and Cierra Ellis beat out their competition by 14 seconds, taking first place with a time of 4:07.70 (AQ).

Two Tigers finished in the top five of the discus, with Rylee Blanton leading the way with a throw of 38.20 meters, which was good for third and secured her spot at the state championship. Isabelle Campos followed with a 37.48-meter (AQ) throw on her third attempt to take fourth and also took sixth in the javelin with a mark of 23.64 meters.

Joace Warrior posted a long jump mark of 5.47 meters (AQ) on her third try to take sixth, while Tiana Burgess wasn't far behind in seventh at 5.39 meters (AQ). Burgess led the Tigers in the triple jump, finishing third with a mark of 11.40 meters (AQ) on her final try, while Michelle Palacios Alvidrez took fifth (10.63 meters).

Warrior and Burgess also posted top-10 finishes in the 100-meter hurdles, with Warrior coming in sixth at 14.83 seconds (AQ) and Burgess following in eighth (15.24 seconds, AQ).

Savannah Ganter posted a time of 5:05.78 in the 1500-meter run, while Nadia Munoz clocked in at 5:08.50 to put the pair third and fourth, respectively. The pair swapped in the 5K, with Munoz taking third with a time of 18:32.52 (AQ), while Ganter took fourth in 18:36.64 (AQ).

The Tiger 4x100 team of Burgess, Lavaki, Miller and Ellis took second in 48.12 seconds, securing their spot in the state championship.
