Women’s Track & Field Competes in RCC Early Bird Invitational

The Riverside City College women's track & field team hosted a grip of competitors in the RCC Early Bird Invitational on Friday. The Tigers placed fourth overall earning 91 points after competing against two four-year colleges.

CSU San Bernardino placed first overall with 173 points, while San Diego Mesa followed in second with 123 points. Chapman rounded out the top three with 119 points.

Freshman Rylee Blanton placed first in the Shot Put (36' ¼') and followed with a sixth place mark in the Discus (109').

Sophomore speedster Zoe Ewell impressed in the 60 M (7.65) with a second place finish. She was the highest-finishing member of an institution and only lost by a one hundredth of a second to an unattached runner and former UCLA star.

Freshman Lilani Quezada placed second overall in the 600 M (1:43.72), while Brianna Miller (1:47.83) finished in fourth place.

The Tiger's 4 x 400 M Relay was two second shy of a top spot as they placed second overall (4:02.95). The team was comprised of freshman Sarah De Leon, Ewell, Miller, and Quezada.

The quartet of sophomore Elani Huntley, freshman Dakota Zamarripa, freshman Kaylie Duffy and freshman Lauren Valencia earned a fourth place finish in the 4,000 M Medley (14:08.42). Huntley, Zamarripa and Valencia teamed up with freshman Jacquelyn Lopez in the 4 x 800 M Relay (11:04.54) and place third overall.
