Nelson Leads Tigers to Second Place Finish at OEC Championship

Jessie Nelson was named Orange Empire Conference Swimmer of the Meet for the second year in a row after leading Riverside City College to a second-place finish as a team. The Tigers finished with 711 points, just 57 points off first place Orange Coast College.

Nelson won the 200-yard breaststroke in two minutes, 26.95 seconds for her fourth championship – three individual championships and one relay team title – this year.

Annabella Storar got Saturday's action started with a win in the 1650 freestyle, touching the wall in 18:36.88. Abigail Ruiz took fourth with a time of 19:34.62, while Jaeden Johnson was right behind her in fifth at 19:35.72.

Nicole Robertson finished runner-up in the 200-yard butterfly, posting a time of 2:23.24, while Nicole Lis (2:26.36) and Sofia Mather (2:32.45) took fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 200-yard backstroke. Samantha Thomas grabbed fourth in the 100-yard free with a time of 56.76 seconds.

The Tigers' 400-yard free relay team (Storar, Thomas, Johnson, Nelson) closed out the meet with a second-place finish in 3:49.27.

Riverside now waits to find out who has qualified for the 3C2A State Championship in May, which will be announced early next week.
