Tigers Drop Two in El Camino Christmas Crossover

The Riverside City College women's basketball team hit the hardwood for the first time since late November in the El Camino College Christmas Crossover and faced off against the El Camino College Warriors and the Santa Barbara City College Vaqueros. The time off did not do the Tigers justice as they dropped two games pushing their losing streak to four-straight.

In both games, the Tigers shot below 40 percent and turned the ball over just under 30 times in each game. Despite the woes, Riverside out rebounded both teams to highlight the team efforts.

The closest game came in a 74-67 loss to El Camino on Friday. The Tigers got off to a slow start on offense and were never able to snag a lead at any point. The Warriors' offense was pesky as they shot an even 50 percent from the floor encompassing an over 50 percent mark from long range.

Five players landed in double-digit points highlighted by a 13-point effort from freshman forward Neveah Manning. She added 13 rebounds to mark her fourth double-double on the season.

Freshman duo Maxine Nejera and Neiya Hamilton each dropped 12 points. Nejera was 4-for-5 from the floor and made it to the charity stripe five times. Furthermore, she added five boards, three assists and two steals.

Hamilton hit five shots with four coming from long range. She added a pair of rebounds and assists.

Freshman Shannon Jordan led the bench in scoring with 11 points highlighted by three triples.

In a 63-46 loss to Santa Barbara on Saturday, The Tigers were haunted by a 9.1 three point shooting percentage as they went a season-low 1-for-11. Manning lead the Tigers in scoring with 12 points and hauled in six rebounds. Freshman guard Mya Clark matched her efforts with 12 points and a monster 16 rebounds. She also added four steals in the process.
