Men’s Cross Country Lands Four in Top-15, Places Third Overall
It was rainy conditions on Friday morning as the Riverside City College men's cross country team hit the road to compete in the 30th Vanguard Invitational in Costa Mesa, CA. The Tigers have regained past year's form as they landed on the podium for the second time this season as scene in a third place showing.
In a field that featured primarily two-years schools with a handful of NCAA and NAIA competitors, the Tigers utilized a total time of 2:08:18 leading to 55 points and third place. As a team, they earned an average time of 25:39.
Four Tigers landed in the top-25 with freshman Abel Ramos leading the charge for the second-consecutive week. He placed fifth overall for the second-straight meet with a mark of 25:20.4. He utilized an averaged mile time of 5:05.8.
Freshman Gavyn Condit continues to act as one of the Tiger's top runners with a sixth place finish at a mark of 25:23.8. His mile time was a season-best 5:06.5.
Sophomore Mario Tavares and freshman Raen Reyes finished consecutively in 11th and 12th place. Tavares finished nearly two seconds faster than Reyes as he earned a mark reading 25:44.9, while Reyes crossed the line at 25:46.7.
Freshman Jorge Castro rounded out the top-five with a 22nd finish after crossing the line at 26:03.0.
