Men's Track & Field Places Third in Southern Regional Championships

The Riverside City College men's track and field team continued action at the 3C2A Southern Regional Championships on Friday afternoon at San Diego Mesa College. The Tigers were one of three teams to earn 100 or more points in the event leading to a third-place finish.

Mt. San Antonio earned the gold with a point total of 223, while San Diego Mesa followed in second place with 170 points. Riverside landed in third with 142 points.

Darius Hill had an impressive showing highlighted by a gold medal finish in the Long Jump (23' 11 ½"). He was narrowly edged in the High Jump (6' 8 ¾"), but nevertheless landed in second place.

Joshua Hornsby routed the field in the 110 M Hurdles (14.01) to haul in the gold. Kyle Reden added a gold medal in the 800 M (1:53.13), while Luke Gleason followed in third place (1:54.10).

Riverside swept the podium in the Discus lead by a first-place mark from Edward Ta'amilo (166'). Donal Aluesi followed in second place (160' 9"), while Christian Burroughs hauled in the bronze (159' 4"). Alan Rennie placed fourth overall (151' 1"). Anthony McCullough rounded out the throws with a bronze medal finish in the Javelin (181' 5"). 

Ernesto Ruiz placed sixth overall in the 3000 M Steeplechase (9:38.50) to miss a top-five mark by a half a second.
