Men’s Track & Field Dominates the OEC Prelims
The Riverside City College men's track & field team hit the road on Thursday and Friday to compete in the Orange Empire Conference (OEC) Prelims hosted by Fullerton College. The Tigers dominated the field by scoring over 80 points more than second-place finishing Saddleback setting themselves up for a strong OEC finals.
Riverside accumulated 117 points to sit atop the podium, while Saddleback is in second with 34 points. Orange Coast currently sits in third with 30 points.
The Tigers were dominant in the throws arena highlighted by none other than Donal Aluesi. He placed first overall in the Hammer (181' 5"), while freshman Christian Burroughs placed second (164' 7"). Freshman Edward Ta'amilo followed with a bronze medal (156').
Riverside swept the Long Jump with sophomore Darius Hill leading the way to a top mark (23' 4 ¾"). Freshman Quinten Flowers landed in second place (21' 3 ½"), while sophomore Reno Vasquez placed third overall (20' 11 ¼").
Freshman Ernesto Ruiz snapped the tape in the 3,000 M Steeplechase (9:58.70) to clock in the lone sup 10-minute time. Freshman Vincent Navarro placed third overall (10:28.58).
Sophomore Kyle Reden earned the top time in the 800 M (1:55.53) and followed with a second-place finish in the in 1500 M (4:14.59). Sophomore Luke Gleason landed in second place in the 800 M (1:56.67), while freshman Juan Espino followed in third place in the 1500 M (4:14.79).
The Tigers dominated the 400 M highlighted by a first-place finish from freshman Tyler Walker (49.80). Freshman Charlie Ruiz followed in second place (50.11), while freshman Elijah Davis placed third (50.11).
Freshman Dominic Boykins snapped the tape in the 100 M (10.91), while sophomore Jabari McMillon placed fourth overall (10.99). Boykins and Davis finished consecutively in the 200 M with Boykins taking the top mark (21.94). Davis clocked in a time of 21.97.
Sophomore Gavyn Condit earned the top clip in the 10,000 M (32:40.94), while Ruiz followed in second place (32:58.42).
