Vasquez, McCullough Lead Men’s Track & Field at SoCal Multi Championships

The Riverside City College men's track & field program participated in the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Southern California Regional Multi Championships over the past two days on the campus of Saddleback College. Sophomore Reno Vasquez, who was recently crowned the OEC Multis Champion, placed fourth overall with a score of 5,950 points to lead the Tigers.

Vasquez was impressive in his efforts as he dominated the jumps categories with a set of gold medals. He placed first overall in three categories coming in the 1,500 M (4:28.56), the Long Jump (21' 8 ¼") and the High Jump (6' 2 ¼"), followed by a second place mark in the 400 M (51.11). He added a pair of seventh place finishes coming in the 100 M Hurdles (16.59) and the 100 M (11.51) mixed in with a sixth-place finish in the Javelin (143' 5").

Freshman Anthony McCullough competed at a high level as well as he placed ninth overall. His best finish came in the Javelin (157' 1") earning him the silver medal. He placed third overall in the 1500 M (4:40.34) to round out his podium finishes. He continued on to place fourth overall in the 400 M (52.70), seventh overall in the Long Jump (20' 2 ½") and the Pole Vault (10' 0") and ninth overall in the 100 M Hurdles (17.76).
