Men's Track & Field Sets Up Camp Atop Podium at Redlands Invite

The Riverside City College men's track & field program hit the road on Friday to compete in the University of Redlands Invitational in the competitive confines of Ted Runner Stadium. The Tigers performed at a high level as seen in a pair of first place finishes leading to 10 top three finishes in various events.

The Tigers competed in all aspects of the meet with top finishes in throws, running events and jumps.

Sophomore Kyle Reden continued to impress by hauling in a gold medal in the 1500 M (3:57.97). He has finished in the top three in this event consistently to make him a top candidate for the strongest in the state.

Sophomore Darius Hill placed first overall in the High Jump (6' 8 ¾"), backed by a third-place finish in the Long Jump (23' 5 ½" ).

The throws squad was led by none other than sophomore Donal Aluesi. He landed on the podium in each event highlighted by a top finish in the Discus (160' 11"). He continued on to place second in the Hammer (173' 2"), followed by a bronze medal showing in the Shot Put (51' 6").

Freshman Christian Burroughs placed second in the Hammer (166'), backed by a third-place finish from freshman Edward Ta'amilo in the Discus (157' 3").

The relay squads performed well as seen in a second-place finish in the 1600 M Relay (3:18.26). The team was comprised of freshman Mekhi Gilmore, sophomore Dominic Boykins, sophomore Luke Gleason and sophomore Lovewyn Don-Willies.

Don Willies and Boykins were joined by freshman Bryce Strong and freshman Charlie Ruiz in the 400 M Relay (42.21) leading to fourth place.

Gilmore landed on the podium in the 400 M (48.57) to earn him third place to round out the top performers.
