Men’s Track & Field Opens Season at Moorpark Invitational

After finishing fifth place at the 2022 California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) State Championships, the Riverside City College men's track & field team opened its 2023 campaign at the Moorpark Invitational on Friday. The Tigers performed at a high level by placing first in five events highlighted by the strength of sophomore Donal Aluesi.

Aluesi, who is arguably the strongest thrower in the state, performed well by topping the field in the Hammer (50.98m), Shot Put (15.35m) and Discus (47.51m). Sophomore Allan Rennie followed close behind with a second place finish in the Shot Put (13.67m).

Sophomore Joshua Hornsby picked up right where he left off by placing first in the 60 M Hurdles (8.00). He contributed to a top finish in the 4 x 400 M Relay (3:21.95) with a team comprised of sophomore Reno Vasquez, sophomore Luke Gleason, and freshman Mekhi Gilmore

Freshman Elijah Davis placed second in the 300 M (34.40), while Gilmore followed in third place (34.60).

Reden turned on the burners earning the silver medal in the 600 M (1:22.02), while Gleason followed in third place (1:22.69).

Sophomore Freshman Anthony McCullough chucked the Javelin (47.41m) en route to a second place finish.
