Men’s Tennis Remains Unscathed, Defeats Saddleback 8-1

The Riverside City College men's tennis team took to its home courts for the second-consecutive match and hosted the Saddleback College Gauchos in Orange Empire Conference action. Riverside took hold of the reigns, specifically in singles play, leading to an 8-1 victory.

The Tigers were in the driver's seat despite dropping their first doubles match of the season. Sophomore tandem Aurelien Arlot and Florian Sirven teamed up at the top spot and reeled in an 8-3 win, while freshman Justin Rigsby and sophomore Chris Lee cruised to an 8-0 win.

RCC continued pressed down on the gas pedal in singles play without dropping a single set. Lee and Rigsby, who swept doubles play at the second position, each finished their singles bouts 6-0, 6-0. Arlot matched them at number two singles with an identical score.

Freshman Rafael Rullan was tabbed the top singles player for the first time in his young career and did not skip a beat. He cruised to a 6-1, 6-4 win. His brother, freshman Carlos Rullan, earned the team's fourth 6-0, 6-0 win.

Sirven capped the team victory with a 6-1, 6-3 win.

The Tigers (3-0) will finish up a two-match stint against the Gauchos in conference action on the road Thursday, April 29 at 2 p.m.
